Summertime Tunic by Katie Himmelberg
2 skeins SWTC Bamboo, colorway “parrot”
Size 6 needles
Alterations: Sized up slightly (192 st circumference). Knitted from top down to ensure enough yarn to finish. Omitted ribbed hip definition thing to try to avoid that stylish “blouson” effect everyone keeps talking about.
Hey, I think I mentioned back in the dark ages of last fall that I tend to compulsively add waist shaping to all of my sweaters? Here’s why.
I am swarthed in a clingy bamboo tube!
I promise to never wear it outside the confines of my backyard!
OK, so the way the Summertime Tunic went down is that I knit for a 36? circumference, but that fit me like a tent. So I tried blocking it down to negative ease, and voila! Perfect love-handle definition and giant boobgap! To the ladies who are making this with the intent to wear outside the house: Make the front slit smaller.
Thing is, I look like ass but I’m damn comfortable. Bamboo is nice stuff, especially in weather above 90 degrees. At some point near the end of the knitting, it occurred to me that this tunic would make one hell of a cute retro 2-pc pajama set. I think I’m going to roll with that.
To that end, I’m considering indulging in this folly by making matching shorts. If anyone has 2 skeins of SWTC Bamboo in colorway “Parrot” that they’d like to trade (perhaps for 2 skeins in colorway “Tequila”), let me know. (God knows Destash has failed me for yarn exchange.)
