December: Better than all of the Octobers were

So you know how people worry that Ravelry will be the death of blogs? Haven’t you happened upon a blogger or two lately who put all her stuff up on Ravelry, but neglected to document it blogside? Well, now you’ve happened upon a blogger or three. Blogging apparently has a lot in common with eating breakfast. You have to do it every day, or that time gets absorbed by other things. Like sleep.

Bear with me, because I’m going to post stuff out of order. I’ve got Debbie Stoller’s book signing to talk about, and a new finished sweater, but today is the day that I talk about the hat.

Shedir!
Yes, it came out looking like a tiny anemic little beret. Those of you who commented on my beret-hatin’ maybe heard about my real gripe with berets? They have a high likelihood of looking dorktacular on people with long not-curly hair. (Except this Urban Outfitters model, apparently.) That’s ok. I’m happy. I have a hat now. This hat marked the start of a lot of finished somethings that weren’t socks.

THE STUFF: Knit with Rowan Felted Tweed in Carbon, on size 2.5 (3.0mm) needles. Four repeats, not three or five, of the Saxon Braid Cable. Took less than a ball.
Ravelry link to my Shedir, if you’re into such things.

So! I finished something! And I also found my missing tin of double point needles! This means…. I can finally cast on some mittens! (SPOILER ALERT: I DID IN FACT CAST ON FOR SOME MITTENS ALREADY.)
