Trudging Merrily Through Two Months of Finished Knit Backlog

After the bloodbath that was my preliminary exams, I’d like to catch up on some Show & Tell from the last two months. Most of the non-secret things that I’ve knitted are kind-of trifling, because I had a few big projects on my plate. However, I did finish one big project before December:

Figure 16: Finished Hoodie

It’s the “Men’s Sweater” from Last Minute Knitted Gifts. Took about 7 skeins of Lamb’s Pride Worsted, on size 9 needles. Since I just can’t leave a pattern alone, I added a hood and made the armholes longer. In retrospect, I should’ve kept the armholes as they were, because the ribbed fabric has plenty of give. I worried* that it would be a bit small, but the pattern’s size S fit Mario inexplicably well. The Large must be huge.

This in no way was a “last-minute gift”– I started it in the summer, and had to steal time to work on it while at school so the surprise wouldn’t be spoiled. I think everyone in my department knew what Mario was getting for his birthday.

*By “Worried”, I mean “secretly hoped”. The sweater was damned comfortable, and looked pretty good on me. Four by four ribs are surprisingly flattering in a casual sweater. I might be knitting another one in the near future.
