Did you know: Back in ye olde early days of the internet, the purpose of a ‘weblog’ was generally to provide a digest of links? TMYK, baby! Here are a few things I’ve read recently that are worth sharing.
Mintyfresh‘s finished Shocking Skirt, from an IK in 2004. Minty took a pattern that had fallen off the radar and gave it fresh life. A really, really cute life.
Before I started reading knitting blogs, and before I worked that summer in a yarn store, I bought a new book once every two years tops. Blogging, even in a little nowhere blog like this one, has changed that. I think that for a lot of us, the internet community has introduced a weird stress to knit the newest patterns in the newest yarns just to continue to be relevant. I love reading about awesome knits that are not au courant– you know that the knitter saw something exciting in them beyond any new-book zeitgeist.
In a similar vein, I’ve also been enjoyingThe Future Handknit Projects Pool on Flickr, because sometimes you just want to look at sweaters and think about possibilities. It contains a lot of great inspiration from patterns and Hollywood, and also pretty much every picture from Twinkle. I forgive the Twinkle, though, because some kindred spirit posted my own favorite forgotten Interweave knit-to-be: Nordic Memories.
And now for something completely different: Knituition’s wrist yarn holder. What a great idea! It’s a neat little knitting project that allows you to store your ball easily on your person for mobile knitting. Much better than the string-from-depths-of-backpack method that I’ve been using. Less zippers to get caught on, too.
And finally: Kerrie Allman tells us where the missing April Magknits went. It’ll be up May 1 instead. Please check it out– a pattern of mine is in it, and I’m all a-flutter.
